The power of intonation
BELIEVE it or not intonation is one of the greatest gateways to success as we navigate this beautiful thing called life.
Voice control is extremely important when communicating messages to others, as your message is perceived and/or received based on the tone or pitch of your voice.
I have seen and continue to witness women incurring losses due to a consistently weak tonality.
Remember when you speak, you expect others to listen and become connected with your message, and if your tone is not sufficiently convincing, your objective may not be achieved.
Tonality refers to the tone and pitch of your voice, and can be challenging to control as it depends on dialect as well as the peaks and valleys in your voice.
The smoothness in your intonation also depends on your ability to use your range whilst speaking in an effort to pique interest.
Giving your voice the right rhythm during the delivery of your message is the winning key, and also adds flavour to stories being told. Intonation is critical to your vocal success as it conveys intent; when asking a question, your pitch is higher and flat when making a statement; a downward intonation conveys a command.
In addition to having an excellent command of the English Language, you must be equipped with a powerful voice pitch and intonation, that influence immediate attention upon the first hearing. Many women have complained about their failure in having their requests for various kinds of services fulfilled, and in retrospect they have all admitted to having a weak voice pitch. Your success starts with an inviting intonation which says that you are confident, assertive and filled with the highest level of self-esteem.
Intonation becomes more important depending on your job… for example being a sales and marketing executive, financial advisor or journalist all require a consistent infusion of power in your voice pitch. Your messages and emotions are best expressed with the right variations in pitch, and therefore, your ability to effectively control your pitch is crucial in achieving your targeted objectives.
The good news is that your pitch and intonation can be improved with the continuous practise of customised exercises.
