Fr Harvey grateful for support
Harvey, who is still nursing pains in his knees from the assault, said, “I am satisfied that everything hat has gone on so far, from the point of view of the police and my own friends in Gonzales and Port of Spain, they have been doing more than I can ask them to do.” For now, he said, it is a matter of waiting for an outcome.
“I am confident that something will happen.
The last two young men who tried something some time ago, one is dead and the other is languishing in prison.” Harvey said his doctor has told him his knee pains should ease in a few days.
Police returned to the crime scene yesterday to source video footage from homes outfitted with cameras.
They are also awaiting the results of fingerprints swabbed at the scene to compare against offenders on file.
Harvey was at St Martin’s RC Church in Gonzales when, at about 5 am, he was accosted by three men, one armed with a gun, who robbed him of $1,000, a watch and a cellphone.
The men threatened to kidnap Harvey, and bound his hands with tie straps and gagged him. He managed to untie himself and a report was made to the police.
The investigation is being led by Snr Supt Radcliffe Boxhill and ASP Ajith Persad.
