Celebrate fathers with Music Festival champions
The association is observing the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Music Festival. The first festival was held in March 1948, with the preliminaries at the Royal Victoria Institute (now the National Museum) and the finals at the Prince’s Building (now the site of NAPA). Since then, the Music Festival has been a staple of cultural life and has launched the careers of many of outstanding musicians in all genres of music. Past festival champions will perform at the pre Father’s Day concert including the Lydian Singers; Raymond Edwards (tenor); Anthony Woodroffe (saxophonist); Natalia Dopwell (soprano); the Bishop Anstey Senior Choir; and the Holistic Music School.
The concert will provide great family entertainment. Tickets at $100 each are available from committee members and also at the door. All proceeds go towards the staging of the 32nd Music Festival, which is scheduled for February to March, 2018. The association is suggesting that patrons treat dad to this Father’s Day of first-class entertainment, while supporting its work of providing avenues for future music stars.
