Apologise, Bravo and Cameron

He was speaking against the backdrop of the furore arising from Darren Bravo’s rejection of a Grade C contract last year.

What started all this was Cameron’s disregard for the truth when he suggested that Bravo was on a Grade A contract and because of his performance was offered a Grade C contract.

The fact is, when drawn to Cameron’s attention that Bravo was never offered a Grade A contract, Cameron refused to apologise for misleading the public.

I believe Bravo owes Cameron an apology for his very unfortunate tweet. No one should be encouraged to publicly call his boss “a big idiot” and still remain relevant to the organisation. It is downright disrespectful and should not be condoned.

However, Cameron also owes Bravo an apology for misrepresenting the facts since Bravo was never on a Grade A contract.

Having experienced slavery and indentureship in this part of the world, I believe the egos of these two men would not allow any of them to do the honourable thing and apologise to each other.

The 18th-century days are long gone but in this region, having been constructed on the backs of severe punishment, one should not expect to rebel at an untruth and not be put to the sword. It is the way our region has been fashioned.

So an immensely talented cricketer wallows in the wilderness while the West Indies spin its excuses against Afghanistan.

This despicable display recently forced the gods to tears, washing away an entire match and saving the region from further embarrassment.

Until Bravo decides to apologise, he may very well kiss his West Indian cricketing career goodbye, unless of course he could prove his Twitter account was hacked.
