Deyalsingh to address issues at PoS General

The minister made an unscheduled visit to the hospital on Monday where workers from the kitchen, the central sterilisation unit and the minor operating theatre to the Accident and Emergency Department aired their grievances spanning since 2013.

The information sent by the ministry was very vague and communications officer Candace Alcantara said any request for further information would have to be emailed and subject to clearing for publication by the permanent secretary and the minister.

During the visit, members of staff took the opportunity to bring to the minister’s attention, longstanding issues which have gone unresolved for the past four years.

Newsday was not informed about what those issues were.

Deyalsingh assured the staff that those issues would be brought to the attention of the board of the North West Regional Health Authority, the umbrella under which the hospital fell, and the hospital administrator, to have their concerns addressed in the shortest time.

The release stated that some of the issues were resolved within the last 24 hours.
