Garbage contractor shoots self

A Freeport businessman is now nursing a bruised ankle after accidentally shooting himself. According to reports around 10.30 am Jawa-harlal Deosaran, (father of 2004 kidnap victim Rod-ney Deosaran) was called to Burnett Street, Bois-siere Village, Maraval to check on one of the several garbage trucks that his company owns. The truck had broken down.

While climbing onto the truck, his 9mm firearm fell out and shot the businessman in his right ankle. He was rushed to the St Clair Medical Centre where he was treated. Visiting the scene were Sgts Hudson and Persad, along with PCs Rampersad and Parris who seized the firearm but have yet to interview the businessman.
