Newsday employee kidnapped, robbed and released

A Senior Newsday employee was kidnapped, robbed and released, all in one night. According to reports around 7 pm on Thursday, Robert Jagessar, Newsday’s Circulation Manager, stopped outside the gate of his Diego Martin home, where he was ambushed by two armed men who bundled him into the back seat of his car and drove off.

While driving away he was blindfolded, beaten and taken to a house in Cocorite where he was relieved of his wallet, cell phone and bank card. The brother of well-known former magistrate Patrick Jagessar was then taken to a nearby ATM machine, where the abductors demanded his “pin” number. They withdrew an undisclosed sum of cash, returned his bank card, and took him back to Cocorite where he was released. A report was made to West End Police Station where Cpl Marcelle is investigating.
