Large crowd attends Hochoy’s son’s funeral

The congregation at the People’s Pentecostal Church in lower Scarborough overflowed into the yard as hundreds of Tobagonians braved the inclement weather yesterday  to pay their last respects to Weinstein Charles, the late son of DAC leader Hochoy Charles. Weinstein, who was affectionately called “Charlo,” died at the Scarborough Hospital last Friday after a brief illness. He was 32. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as “deep vein thrombosis” (blood clot). He had complained of feeling unwell with cramps in his leg on Wednesday, two days before he died.


He was taken to the Scarborough Hospital where he was treated and discharged. Last Thursday he again complained of not feeling well, this time with chest pains. He was taken to the hospital where he died around 4 am Friday. Among the many dignitaries in attendance at the funeral service yesterday were recently elected members of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) led by Chief Secretary Orville London; Tobago MPs Stanford Callender and Eudine Job-Davis; as well as senior members of the DAC, who all expressed words of consolation and comfort to Hochoy Charles.
