Another murder in Beetham
A 21-year-old man who reportedly stole a pistol from a gang member and was shot in the head while liming at 6th Street, Beetham Estate on Wednesday night, succumbed to the gunshot injury about 4 am yesterday. Reports revealed that around 10.30 pm, Anthony Kevin Hamilton, was liming at 6th street, Beetham Estate, when he was confronted by four men known to him. Hamilton tried to escape by running away but was cornered by the men who began questioning him about the gun. He denied that he had stolen the gun and was later shot once in the head. Hamilton was found bleeding by a relative who took him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. He was warded at the Intensive Care Unit and died about 4 am yesterday. An autopsy carried out at the Forensic Science Centre by Dr Eastlyn McDonald Borris revealed that death was due to a single gunshot wound to the head. Mary Hamilton, the grandmother of the dead man described her grandson as a kind and gentle person. She added that as far as she was aware he was not involved with any gang and was always willing to assist anyone. She is calling on the police to find the killers and bring them to justice. Hamilton is the 170th murder victim for the year. Officers of the Besson Street CID are investigating.
