Victim forgives kidnappers
In a letter to the Editor, released kidnap victim Tessa Ramdath Maharaj has stated that she has forgiven the men who kidnapped her and held her for 34 days. In her letter, the young woman thanked all those who prayed for her and supported her parents during her ordeal at the hands of the abductors. Ramdath Maharaj said she wanted to say a special prayer for the kidnappers. "May you bless and guide them. I forgive them and I know that you will also. "I empathise with them, for much like me, they are but victims of their circumstance. My heart, prayers and thoughts go out to the fellow victims of crime, their families and everyone in our beautiful country. Keep them all safe, strong, positive and courageous." Ramdath Maharaj also stated that she was grateful to the Almighty for sparing her life. Ramdath Maharaj was snatched at the Valpark Shopping Plaza on October 18. She was released after relatives paid a hefty ransom for her release.
