Tunapuna woman raped and robbed

A Tunapuna businesswoman is now being treated for trauma after being abducted, raped and robbed. Her boyfriend was also abducted, beaten and robbed.

According to reports, the woman, 35, was turning into the intersection at the corner of Pasea Main Road, Tunapuna, and the Churchill Roosevelt Highway at 12.30 am, when her car was rammed from behind.

She came out to see what was happening and was approached by three masked men with guns and a cutlass, who announced a hold-up.

Her boyfriend, 25, who was driving behind her, also stopped when he saw the commotion. He was also held up by the men.

He was then beaten and thrown into the woman’s car trunk, while the woman was thrown into the car where she was repeatedly raped by one of the men.

The couple was also relieved of bank cards, money and phones.

The couple was tied up, blindfolded and dumped at the Caroni Cremation Site, where they escaped about an hour later and made their way to the Caroni Police Station, where a report was filed.

Investigations revealed that after the couple was dumped in Caroni, a withdrawal of $20,000 was made from an ATM machine using the woman’s bank card. Her car was found in the Tunapuna area.

WPC Tammy Cumberbatch of the Tunapuna CID is investigating.
