Cop robbed of gun in Tacarigua

An off-duty policeman attached to the Port-of-Spain Criminal Investigation Department was robbed of his police issued firearm while shopping at the Tacarigua Quik Shoppe on Sunday night. According to reports, acting Cpl Anthony Harford was at the Quik Shoppe, at Eastern Main Road and Dinsley Junction at 11.55 pm, when three armed men entered the store and announced a hold-up.


They proceeded to relieve Harford of an undisclosed sum of cash and his gun before escaping. The nine millimetre revolver contained 15 rounds of ammunition. A report was filed at the Arouca Police Station and roadblocks were set-up throughout the area. No one was held. Investigations are being conducted by Sgt Ashby. Reports revealed that the Tacariqua Quik Shoppe has been robbed at least ten times in 2005. During one robbery, a man was shot dead, while three bandits were held in another.
