NO BAIL FOR KIDNAPPERS

A TEENAGER and a PH taxi driver jointly charged with two counts of  kidnapping were yesterday denied bail by a San Fernando magistrate. Mark Philbert, 31, of Cocoyea Village, San Fernando, and 16 year-old Kenton Patrick of First Street, San Juan, appeared in the First Magistrates’ Court before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington. The two were charged with kidnapping two women on December 12, 2005, at Siparia, Erin Road, Debe. Philbert and Patrick were also charged with five counts of robbery, which were alleged to have been committed between December 9 - 12. Philbert was also charged with making a false report of a robbery to PC Hyden Manwaring at the San Fernando CID offices. Attorney Ainsley Lucky, who represented Patrick, asked Wellington to consider bail for his client, but Wellington denied bail because of the number of charges. Both men were refused bail and remanded into custody. They are to re-appear on December 30.
