Mary gives birth on Christmas Day
A TOTAL of 17 babies — mostly baby girls — were born on Christmas morning. The first baby was delivered at the Sangre Grande Hospital at 12.10 am. The baby girl, who is yet to be named, weighed 2.72 kilogrammes and was born to Mary Mohammed of Toco Main Road. A nurse from the Maternity Ward said both mother and daughter are in good health. Mohammed received hampers from Cheekies and Teddies for the next three months. Four babies, all girls, were delivered in Sangre Grande. They were born to Aleema Khan at 3.20 am weighing 3.18 kg; Susan Narine at 4.12 am weighing 3.17 kg, and Enya Cedeno at 9.34 am weighing 3.07 kg. Seven babies were delivered at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH). The first baby to be born at the PoSGH was a baby girl weighing 3.01 kg. The baby girl was born at 12.29 am to parents Theresa Bakr and Marlon Alexander of Laventille. An exhausted Bakr said she had not yet decided on a name for her baby, but both parents were calling her “Baby Joy.”
The lucky parents were given a three-month supply of disposable diapers from Agostini Ltd Distributors (Cheekies), and a three-month supply of Teddies diapers from Misons. Hampers were also distributed to all the other newborn babies on the ward at the PoSGH. Other hospitals receiving hampers included Sangre Grande, Point Fortin, San Fernando and Mt Hope. Four babies were born at the Mt Hope Maternity Hospital, the first being a baby girl at 7.22 am. Two girls were born at the San Fernando General Hospital, the first was baby Adana Anjone Cedeno who was delivered at 1.14 am to proud parents Dhanmatie Cedeno and Steve Cedeno. The second baby girl is yet to be named by her mother Carol Rampersad.
