Robbery in God’s House

AN ARMED bandit robbed an official of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Arouca of monies collected from the Church’s congregation hours after Saturday evening Mass was celebrated. According to reports, at about 9 pm an official of the church was checking the money collected from the congregation in the church sanctuary, when the gunman entered and held him up. The gunman then grabbed the undisclosed sum of cash and ran off.

The Arouca police who were contacted visited the scene but made no arrests. Investigations revealed that the church service had ended two hours before and officials were closing up when the incident took place. Concerned officers told Newsday that while everyone is at  risk from criminals, these criminals have hit an all time low when they start robbing churches. Newsday visited the church yesterday but none of the officials would grant this newspaper an interview. PC Rawlins of the Arouca Police Station is continuing inquiries.
