WASA worker murdered
WASA St Joseph employee Michael Baptiste, better known as Junior, is murder victim number 21 in 2006. Baptiste, 47, who was last alive seen at 3 pm on Sunday, was found dead inside his Dibe Road home at Long Circular, St James, at 10.30 am, by his mother Rita Baptiste. His mother, who was the last person to see him alive when he dropped her off at a church in Diego Martin, told police that when she did not see him yesterday morning at 8 am, she went looking for him and found his body on the floor at the entrance to his bedroom. She closed the door and contacted the neighbours who called the police. When found, the father of two, clad in only his underwear, was gagged, with his hands and feet tied behind his back. There was a sock around his throat. The house was ransacked and a reported thousand dollars in gold was missing. Police believe the killer was looking for something and tortured Baptiste to get the information before he was strangled. Visiting the scene were Senior Supt Roach, Supt Millington, ASPs Cadette and Julius, and Insp Philips.
