Man dies after crashing into light pole


A 21-year-old man of Palmiste Gardens, San Fernando became the country’s ninth road fatality victim for the year when he succumbed to injuries after crashing into a light pole at Chase Village early yesterday.


Police reports revealed that about 4.45 am yesterday, Christopher Sirju was driving his grey B-14 Sunny south along the Solomon Hochoy Highway, when on reaching 300 metres south of the Chase Village, Flyover, he skidded off the road and collided with a light pole.


The unconscious man was taken to the Chaguanas health facility by EHS officers and died about 5.25 am.


Compared with the same period last year four people were victims of road deaths.
