Panyard judging begins Friday
Judging of the 2006 Panorama preliminaries, dedicated to the late Desperadoes arranger, Clive Bradley, begins in panyards on Friday. Preliminary judging will take place over a period of six days and 42 bands will be selected for the national semi-finals for small, medium and large conventional steel bands, which will be held on Sunday February 12, 2006, at the Queen’s Park Savannah. On Friday evening, Single Pan Bands in the North, Medium Conventional Bands in South/Central and Small Conventional Bands in the East will be judged by separate panels of adjudicators. All judging starts at 7 pm. Bands in all categories will be able to select and perform any calypso (from the current year or any previous year), as long as the same composition has not been played by a band in a Panorama competition. Fourteen of the registered bands will be playing "Colours Again," composed by Mark Loquan, Keron Boodoosingh, Joel "Zan" Feveck, and sung by Destra Garcia. Twelve bands will be performing Winston Scarborough’s (The Original De Fosto Himself) "Bradley," while seven bands have opted for Mark Loquan’s and Chris Morris’ "Good Times," with vocals by Denyse Plummer. Other 2006 songs chosen by bands include "Tempo (Remix)," "This One Is For You Bradley," "High On Pan," "Max It Up," "Enough Is Enough" and "Judgment Day." In addition, music by Kitchener, Baron, Merchant, Maestro, Black Stalin and Super Blue are among the pieces being performed.
