Murdered Angela never minced words
MURDERED moneylender Angela Ragoonanansingh was remembered at her funeral yesterday as a straightforward talker who never minced words. The 36-year-old woman was shot dead inside a San Fernando store on Tuesday. She had reportedly gone to collect a financial debt from a businessman when the incident occurred. “She did not send e-mails and text messages when she had something to say,” Pundit Atma Maharaj, who officiated at the funeral, told mourners. “She would tell you to your face,” the pundit added. Anita Teasedale delivered the eulogy on Ragoonanansingh, whom mourners heard was an avid member of the People’s National Movement’s San Fernando East constituency.
Teasedale did not mince her words either, when she described Ragoonanansingh, saying: “She was always straightforward. Some say she was a badjohn, which she was not. But let’s just say her mouth was hot, hot. hot.” Teasedale said the deceased lived with her husband, Narine, two sons and a daughter, but her house was open to all. Praising Ragoonanansingh as an avid community worker, Teasedale said, “You would always leave her home with a smile on your face after talking to her.” She added, “She was always witty and had a plaster for anything.” Attending the funeral were representatives of the PNM’s San Fernando East constituency office. Also expressing condolences were classmates of Ragoonanansingh’s daughter, Debbie Ann.
