Student,10, found dead behind house
Police reports revealed that at about 7.30 am yesterday, Trevor George, the father of Anton George, a student of the St Margaret’s Boys Anglican School left his son at their Mapp Lands, Laventille home.
He returned at about 12.30 pm and discovered the body of his son at the bottom of a hill behind their home.
Anton had injuries to his head and body.
Inspector Nandram Monilal and Sgt Bridgenarine Chattoo visited the scene along with District Medical Officer, Dr Hollaway.
The boy’s father was too distraught to be interviewed yesterday, but his mother Michelle Stanley said that Anton was the youngest of her three children.
She said that he did not attend school yesterday because students had attended a walk against crime at the Queen’s Park Savannah and he had asked to be excused.
Stanley who sat in front of her home surrounded by relatives said that her son was due to write SEA next year.
She described him as a “bright boy” who had a lot of plans for the future.
The distressed woman said that she is unsure how her son died and is awaiting the autopsy report today which will give a better indication of how Anton died.
Police investigators told Newsday that based on information received, the boy was seen flying a kite early yesterday.
They believe that he may have slipped, fell and suffered head injuries.
No one was able to say exactly how the schoolboy died.
Investigations are continuing.
