Bachan puts PowerGen in control

Bachan blazed a stroke-filled 151 as the league-leaders PowerGen declared on 351 runs for seven wickets, with former national player Samuel Badree chipping in with 58 while Bachan’s WI teammate Jason Mohammed added 47. Badree later returned with the ball to claim two wickets for 16 runs as Munroe Road closed the day on 88 for four wickets, despite a knock of 24 from Capil Harry.

FCB Clarke Road, who lie second in the standings, are in a tense battle for first innings points against Alescon Comet at Pierre Road, Charlieville. Responding to Comet’s 200 all out, Clarke Road ended play on 163 for five with Sean Siloch hitting 62 and Guyanese Homchand Pooran unbeaten on 35, with ex-national and West Indies opener Suruj Ragoonath grabbing three for 21.

Rayad Emrit while Fazil Baksh made 26 and Zaheer Khan, 25. Former TT off-spinner Mukesh Persad took three for 63 while Dane Teelucksingh got two for 2.

CLICO Preysal earned first innings points against Ceramic MerryBoys in a dramatic day of action at the Diego Martin Recreation Ground.

Preysal were dismissed for 167 with ex-West Indies bowlers Neil McGarrell (three for nine) and Marlon Black (three for 29) in the thick of things, while Anderson Bryce was undefeated on 35. And, at the Queen’s Park Oval, W Connection Wanderers will resume this morning on 23 for one in response to 299 by Queen’s Park.

Justin Guillen smashed seven fours and three sixes in the team’s topscore of 60 while Ricardo Powell notched seven fours and two sixes in his quickfire 47. WI Under-19 all-rounder Kieron Pollard added 42, opener Marlon Barclay (33) and captain Mervyn Dillon (28) also played useful innings, while for Wanderers, spinners Orin Forde (three for 49), Nicholas Ramjass (three for 101) and pacer Theodore Modeste (two for 17) did the damage.
