Money Up Front - for ‘Flamingo’

Owner and affable trainer Juan Mosca paid a $1,400 penalty to get the three-year-old son of Storm Report/Medical System into the Flamingo Stakes for colts and geldings at the second subscription stage.

But he was never seen with a chance in Saturday’s race and finished down the eight-horse field.

The Flamingo over 1350 metres is scheduled to be run off on April 17, but third and final

subscription of $200 becomes due on Wednesday.

Money Up Front is among 23 three-year-olds for which second subscriptions of $300 each were paid.

Third and final subscriptions of $200 each are also due on Wednesday for the Ibis Stakes

for three-year-old fillies over the same 1350 metres distance.

There are 17 fillies for which second subscriptions of $300 were paid, including Royal

Colours Classic winner Greek Princess. Meanwhile, the field for the Champagne Stakes, a Grade 1 race over 1600 metres on the turf course, has been trimmed to 13 after the withdrawal of five horses.

But in this case, three had subscriptions paid for the event also on April 17, including Barbadian runner Santa Faye. Others are Miss Lover Lover, who missed her challenge for the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup because of transportation problems and Lit d’Amour.
