Paymaster shot and robbed of $50,000
The cash according to investigating officers was to be paid out to some 50 construction workers who are currently working on the proposed site of the Pleasantville Muti-purpose Complex.
According to a police report, at about 5.40 pm Roger Glean, 34, of Syne Village, Penal, went to the construction site at Circular Road, Pleasantville, to pay the workers when he was confronted by a gunman.
The report stated that while Glean was still in his white B12 motorcar, an unidentified man walked up to him and shot him twice about the body.
Glean was wounded on his lower right hip and his right arm.
The man, police said, then grabbed the bag containing the cash and escaped on foot.
Glean was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was treated and remains warded in a satisfactory condition.
Sgt Jaikaran, PC Sookoo, PC Harripersad, PC Nicholas and PC Williams of the Mon Repos police station visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
