Man died from single stab

Pending discussions with the DPP, a suspect who was held in connection with the stabbing, may face a criminal charge.

The 19-year-old suspect was detained by police shortly after the incident at The Ranch Bar at Icacos Main Road in Icacos on Sunday.

Several witnesses to the incident told police Merez, a caretaker at the Cedros District Health Centre, was involved in a fight with the suspect outside the bar and Merez started throwing bottles at the suspect.

Witnesses said the suspect ran off with Merez following him. Police said Merez was stabbed in the left side of his chest while standing on the front steps of a nearby house.
