Teen gunned down in PoS

Matthew Holder, 19, died on the steps of his St Joseph Street, East Dry River home, after a gunman shot him at about 8.10 pm on Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses report the shooter wore dark clothing and a black hat, police stated.

Holder was shot several times about the body.

Relatives and residents reported hearing loud explosions and looked out after the noise, and saw Holder lying on the ground bleeding.

He had already died by the time relatives took him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

Sterling Holder the uncle of the victim described his nephew as a “cool person and extremely hard working.”

Holder, a former security officer at the People’s Mall, began working in construction since a fire destroyed the Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain mall last year.
