Spoilers in Southern

SPOILERS won a two-wicket thriller over Malgretoute to scrape into the quarter-finals of the $30,000 General Earth Movers-sponsored Southern Sports Cricket League.

After bowling out Malgretoute for 159 led by Errol Khan’s 65, Spoilers found themselves struggling on 39 for five wickets, yet reached the winning target with two overs to spare.

Vandamme put themselves on course for the $15,000 winners’ purse with a comprehensive 107-run victory over Surprise/Gasparillo.

Timothy Narine scored 82 and Richard McLeod 55 to steer Vandamme to 233 for six wickets in their 30 overs.

And replying, Surprise/Gasparillo could muster only 126, with Narine turning in a good all-round performance taking three wickets for 20 runs and Sunil Bachoo four for 29.

Knockers made light work of Happy Hits, winning by an emphatic eight wickets.

The Happy Hits men were restricted to 131 for nine wickets in their 30 overs, and Brendon Sirju scored 53 and Andrew Rambaran 35 to give Knockers a rousing start with a 98-run opening partnership as they went on to victory.

Harmony Hall were four-wicket winners over BKP in their qualifier, while Pond Boys beat Golconda by 20 runs.

Gandhi United qualified with a thrilling three-wicket victory over Mendez Sports.
