Arima man, 60, shot

According to police reports, at about 9pm, Allan Edwards, a groomsman was going to a neighbour’s house at Fourth Street in Peytonville, when he was approached by an armed man who opened fire, hitting Edwards in the leg.

The residents in the area who heard the loud explosion and subsequently found Edwards on the ground bleeding telephoned the police and the elderly man was taken to the district hospital for emergency treatment.

Police sources said no arrests have been made nor has a motive been established for the shooting.

The Arima CID officers are continuing investigations.
