Kicked around like political football

Listed among the speakers at this National meeting were Kamla, Ramesh and Jack. Not a mention of the political leader, Winston Dookeran! Naturally, based on recent statements I assumed that this meeting was sanctioned by the national executive, and all the speakers were informed that they had to speak. Imagine my shock and horror when I saw the following e-mail:

“Thank you for this invitation. The topic is one I would have liked to contribute to; it represents my concern and the concerns of the nation and, I would have liked to attend. However I am unable to participate because I have a previous commitment on the said date and time to attend the Indian Arrival Dinner at the Divali Nagar site in my capacity as Leader of the Opposition. Regards, Kamla”

What is really going on in the UNC. Was Kamla consulted or is it that she does not want to appear on the same platform with Ramesh. Is it one rule for Dookeran and another rule for Jack and the rest. Has Jack bought the UNC? Is he now calling the shots? He appeared on the news saying that changes will be made to the senate. I thought that senatorial appointments were the sole prerogative of the Leader of the Opposition, but Jack is saying that the executive will decide to have senators sitting on a substitute bench. Is this FIFA style politics? Did the previous executive meet to fire Robin Montano, or to approve Ato Boldon? Is Kamla really the leader of the Opposition or is she easily removable?

Obviously the UNC has been hijacked by a cabal and the party is being kicked around like a football.When will UNC members rise up and realise that they have been conned!
