2 prison officers on trial for murder
Devindra Ramdial and Ansen Griffith were arraigned and placed in the care of the state by Justice Mark Mohammed. The duo are charged with the murder of Anton Cooper, who was found dead in his cell on June 25, 2001.
Mohammed briefed the 12-member panel and three alternates on their role in the trial and ordered them to return on June 5, when they will begin hearing evidence.
Attorneys Gilbert Peterson SC and Pamela Elder SC represent Ramdial and Griffith.
Prosecutors Israel Khan SC, Kathy-Ann Waterman-Latchoo and Tricia Hudlin appeared for the State.
