Road cyclists bid for points

The event will be a gruelling 60-plus mile race from Couva starting near the Ato Boldon Stadium to Mosquito Creek in Oropouche.

The race pedals off after registration is completed at 7 am and a number of leading cyclists will be taking part with the hope of securing points that would be used at the end of the season to determine the top pedal pusher.

The cyclists will begin in front the Ato Boldon Stadium and will proceed along the Southern Main Road riding through Claxton Bay, Point-a-Pierre and Marabella heading to Mosquito Creek.

Presently Elijah Greene leads the national points system following a series of impressive performances.

However Greene will not be participating in today’s event as he is on national duty at the Pan American Championship in Brazil. At least four members of the Trinidad and Tobago’s team will be in action today as the Pan American Games Championship pedals off today with the road races.

The TT riders will contest both track and the road races in Brazil.
