BgTT hosts Parliamentarians
The event was very informal with President of the Senate Dr Linda Baboolal and Speaker of the House Barry Sinanan as well as other distinguished guests in attendance.
Stephen Hepburn, head of the visiting Parliamentarians told the audience he was pleasantly surprised to discover the different cultures in Trinidad and Tobago.
“I left the UK expecting to come to a sleepy Caribbean island where the life is easy going with tourism as your main stay for the economy, but I was surprised,” he said.
“You have a vibrant energy sector and your ecology is fantastic, we have not been sold this part of Trinidad and Tobago in the UK.
Hepburn lamented, “You also have to teach us how to get along with one another. We have been going at it with Scotland for over 1,000 years, you are so young and you have such a tight bond between the Indian and Afro sectors.”
He even joked about Scotland supporting TT Soca Warriors in the upcoming World Cup as against supporting England.
