Alisha enjoys success

Better known as “Indian Madonna” (she was first known as “Babydoll” but an image change later she was the epitome of Indian Madonna), Alisha Chinai made Indiapop history with “Made in India” along with music composer Biddhu. The song made waves at the music charts and ushered new trends in pop music thereafter. The Album, named Made in India, just as the single, came out in 1996.

But Alisha “Babydoll” Chinai gave in to her whimsical mood (for which she is quite infamous) and took a five-year sabbatical, which ended with another pop album Om. It failed to do justice to the euphoria of her previous album and had to bite the dust. Quite sadly, her next album Dil Ki Rani bombed as well.

However, in the year 2005, Alisha tasted mass popularity again with the success of her track “Kajra Re,” recorded for the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack of the film Bunty Aur Babli. Alisha is, at present, enjoying a successful career as a playback singer for Bollywood movies.

Nowadays she is looking forward to her next album with music composer Sandeep Chowta. She already has nine albums to her credit.

Alisha is among the nominees in the Bollywood Movie Awards which will be held at the Centre of Excellence on Saturday.
