Gunmen run through Diego school

According to police reports, at about 3 pm, officers of a Joint Army/Police patrol were driving along St Lucien Road when they noticed a vehicle with three occupants who were acting suspiciously.

The occupants shot at the police jeep and the officers returned fire. The car stalled and the gunmen got out of the vehicle and ran through the school yard of the Diego Martin Junior Secondary School with police in hot pursuit.

However, the gunmen managed to escape despite the setting up of roadblocks and house-to-house searches by the officers. The school’s principal sent the students home early after they were left shaken up by the sight of gunmen running through the school. No one was injured in the incident.

West End Police officers are continuing investigations.
