TT sweep Honduras in Davis Cup

The TT-Honduras matchup began on Wednesday but a rain delay meant that the tie ended yesterday morning.

On the clay surface, Shane Stone overcame a first set tie-break loss to beat Jose Moncada 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 while, in the truncated clash between Richard Brown and Calton Alvarez, the TT player emerged a 6-3, 6-2 winner. And in the doubles, the Stone brothers Shane and Troy cruised past Carlos Caceres and Franklin Garcia 6-3, 6-0.

The TT quartet which also includes teenager Michael Clarke, was expected to face the Bahamas yesterday and will conclude their Group III participation today against Puerto Rico. Top two teams will join the top finishers from Group ‘B’ — Costa Rica, Cuba, Haiti and El Salvador — in another round-robin group, from which the top two will advance to the Davis Cup Group II.
