Bahamas whip TT lads 2-1 in Davis
Similar to their opening clash against Honduras which Trinidad and Tobago won 3-0, the tie was extended to another day due to persistent rainfall on the clay surface.
This time around, the TT lads lost both their singles fixtures and were only able to salvage a win in the doubles.
Bahamian Marvin Rolle overcame a tough challenge from veteran Shane Stone 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 while his countryman Devin Mullings sealed the win with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over TT’s Richard Brown.
Stone combined with brother Troy to edge Rolle and Mullings 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles.
The TT quartet which also includes teenager Michael Clarke, were due to conclude their Group III participation yesterday against Puerto Rico.
Top two teams will join the top two from Group “B” — Costa Rica, Cuba, Haiti and El Salvador — in another round-robin group, from which the leading duo will advance to the Davis Cup Group II.
