Olympic Day Run today

The run which starts at 4 pm, will form part of the afternoon’s proceedings which will also involve some bicycle and wheelchair events.

At 3.30 pm the veterans 40-years-and-over three-lap race will take place, followed by a kids BMX race, a one-lap wheelchair race and the Day Run.

Among sponsors for the joint TTOC and Phillips Promotions Company Limited-sanctioned event are Sport Flex and Coca Cola.

This year to celebrate the 112th anniversary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by Baron Pierre de Coubertin at the University of Sorbonne in Paris, France, the local committee will have the Olympic Day Run today in Port of Spain, and in sister-isle Tobago on June 24.

After nine years the venue for the run has been shifted from the Brian Lara Promenade. The run is open to all TTOC affiliates, secondary schools, and primary schools, which is a new category.

The family category will comprise one male and one female adult and two children under 21 and the 180 Category, two males and two females with a combined minimum age of 180 years.

Top three prizes in all of the above categories are $800, $500 and $300. There are also a special category for corporate companies.
