Teak thieves stopped in Central

“After they were observed by the game wardens,” he said, “they were stopped and warned of intended prosecution by the Forestry Division for illegally cutting young teak trees on State lands.” He said the suspects, who were in their late 20s, did not have firearms in their possession but they had cutlasses. He said the suspects allegedly cut 40 small teak trees and were going to use their car to transport the trees to their homes.

“They told the game wardens they wanted to use the trees in their gardens but that’s no excuse because you’re not supposed to cut the trees in the first place,” he said.
