Mayaro honours Soca Warriors

The players, defender Dennis Lawrence, midfielders Aurtis Whitley and Colin Samuel and strikers Cornell Glen and Anthony Wolfe were expected to witness last night’s finals along with Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Roger Boynes. And it is hoped that the visit of the Soca Warriors will inspire not only the footballers in the community, but also the nation’s youth. The Community games have two aspects — first the internal competition which includes teams from within the community, and the external which saw action among teams from outside the Cocorite Community.

Meanwhile Wolfe and Samuels will be honoured for the service to the country by the Mayaro Composite School tomorrow.

The community of Mayaro, along with the principal, teachers, students and a number of corporate companies in the area have come together to pay tribute to the players who are both past students of the school.
