Wade Mark:

DEPUTY Political Leader of the United National Congress (UNC) Senator Wade Mark said yesterday that the Opposition party will be ready when Prime Minister Patrick Manning “rings the bell” for the next general elections.

He gave that assurance during the UNC’s “Meet the Grassroots Tour” in the Bangladesh South area of St Joseph.

The event, which was set to begin at 1 pm, began at 2 pm due to heavy rainfall and the announcement of the death of former president of the Senate Ganace Ramdial.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Senator Tim Gopeesingh were among the top UNC officials taking part in the tour.

While speaking to one of the residents Mark revealed that the party plans to do similar tours to “meet all our supporters and well wishers in 41 constituencies.”

“We are ensuring that we are ready for when Mr Manning rings the bell. The people have said it! Enough is enough!”

An elated resident replied, “You can count on us.”

After listening to complaints from some of the residents Persad-Bissessar declared, “There is nothing being done in this area. Things are hard for you with the PNM in power.”

Representative for the area is Gerald Yetming who has parted ways with the UNC and is now part of a new political movement, the DNA.
