Jones revels in new ‘respect’

But he has reassured his fans in England that he will be firing on all cylinders when he returns for the start of the English Championship Division.

Jones became a household name after his showing at the World Cup Finals, particularly lining up against top England defender John Terry in their match in Nuremberg on June 15.

And now he’s hoping he and his TT teammates have earned that respect in the UK.

Especially since the 2010 Finals in South Africa are not that far off.

“No one ever knows what can happen tomorrow. Hopefully we can take this experience and pass it on to mould the upcoming team.

“We have the Gold Cup next year and then World Cup qualifiers the following year. We cannot afford to sit down on things,” Jones said. “The country can see that this is the stage that we are supposed to be on. My most memorable moment has to be living with the guys for six weeks and riding to training everyday,” Jones said.

“I need to rest a bit and I’ll be looking for three weeks off or so. I don’t think I will be able to be at my best if I rush back into the game at this point and the club understands that. When I get back though, I intend to have a big go at them,” he ended.
