LUCKY URGES GRADUATES:

“INDEPENDENT” United National Congress (UNC) MP for Pointe-a-Pierre Gillian Lucky yesterday advised graduating students of the Princes Town Junior Secondary School, to always be prepared to face challenges of the future.

Delivering the feature address at the school’s graduation ceremony, Lucky said, “Challenges surround your life and you must be prepared to confront and embrace them.”

Lucky told the graduates that there would be times when they would face disappointments and tragedies. However, the parliamentary representative advised them not to give up. “When situations like those occur, you must reach deep within yourselves and find the inner strength needed to overcome and conquer the challenges,” Lucky said.

Urging the graduates not to give up when failure crosses their paths, Lucky, said, “There is no shame in failing at something you dream about. The disgrace is not having the courage to try it in the first place.”

In congratulating the graduates, principal Patrick Dailey, advised them to take advantage of the opportunities being presented to them as far as education was concerned. Dailey said, “These opportunities may never come again. Recognise the importance of your education and the impact it can have on the rest of your life and upon those around.”

Trophies were awarded to school valedictorian Shenelle Yards, who was judged: “Best all-round female student.” Yards also received an award for placing first in English Language at the Junior Secondary level. Evening shift student Danny Muralli, received the trophy for “Best all round male student.”

Special prizes were awarded to students who showed the greatest progression during the school terms.
