Citizens paying for government blunders

Correct me if I go wrong but Dr The Honourable Lenny Saith set up and managed a process, in which we all had trust — or at least was left with little choice otherwise, to deliver to citizens a competitive and functional cellular phone service. It now seems that despite still struggling to overcome a series of process related issues, we are now hearing that the army will be moving in to dismantle several of the cell sites which I am assuming are quite important to the functioning of the system that delivers what is yet to become an efficient and reliable cell service.

Yes, some of these sites are illegal and probably dangerous to the health of children and perhaps other as well and yes, each proposed location should have been submitted for evaluation and approval by the competent authorities.

But why was this not done as part of the process and why do we citizens, having placed our trust in Government now have to suffer inconvenience and loss while these blunders are corrected? The issue of site selection and approval should not have been difficult to deal with as part of the process — surely we are not pioneers in this field and Trintoplan or TTEK or E-Teck or Kenesjay or Genivar or Calder Hart or Rao or the Chinese could have advised Government of a model that was successfully used for setting up cellular services somewhere in the hemisphere or beyond?

It is little things like this that makes it difficult to trust Government and its processes. This issue is simple yet it has turned out to be so messy, how does Government manage with the difficult stuff like negotiating with the oil and gas companies or even dealing with the imminent transportation crisis — and so many other issues? Besides the hackneyed “lyrics’ emanating from Spin Doctors and Politicians, on what can we base this trust which you ask or demand of us Dr The Honourable Lenny Saith?
