RISING PRICES:

The increases in some basic food prices at the supermarket level for 2004 and 2005, as recorded by the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago include:

One kilogramme of powdered milk which rose from $11.47 in 2005 to $38.97 in 2006;

A litre of detergent, from $14.99 in 2005 to $16.99 in 2006;

A litre of oil, from 12.99 to $13.65;

One 20 ounce case of soft drink (Coke), from $45.99 to $70.00;

One tin of orange juice, from $6.99 to $7.99;

One kg of smoked herring, from $16.00 to $24.99;

One Kilogramme of salt fish, from $24.96 to $32.99;

One tin of corned beef, from $5.75 to $7.29;

One small pack of curry, from $3.75 to $4.99.
