‘Parallel organisation’ unfounded

The large audiences attracted to his meetings, is a response to his programme for a new brand of politics, his democratic leadership style and proof of his ability to generate consensus. What is taking place is a process of reform to give the party a national outlook and a credible image.

It is therefore ridiculous to label Mr Dookeran’s programme which is designed to expand the base of the membership as an operation of a “parallel organisation.”

Some members of the National Executive may have misunderstood the significance of such a process or they are just unwilling to accept the emergence of any new thinking with the party.

With respect to the claim that the “rank and file” have expressed dissatisfaction with Mr Dookeran’s leadership and wish to have him removed is without any supporting evidence.

When and where did the “rank and file” ever meet to express their dissatisfaction? On what basis was such a claim made?
