Teleios, Microsoft tweak software
The company has already conducted a series of these tours to engage the developer community in meaningful dialogue about software development challenges, opportunities and skills development.
The focus of this tour was Application Blocks, which are reusable source-code components that provide proven solutions to common development challenges. They can be integrated into applications, or they can be extended or customised to fit your needs. Application Blocks address specific recurring problem domains encountered in enterprise development projects such as data access, logging, user interface process, and composite user interfaces.
The tour started off with a presentation on Smart Clients by Reeza Ali, Software Architect with Microsoft West Indies. This presentation focused on what a Smart Client was, what the advantages of using it are, how ClickOnce deployment works and how you can leverage the use of the Composite UI Application Block in your Smart Client development projects.
Following this, the tour got into deep technical details on the Caching, Data Access, Exception Handling, Logging, Updater and Composite UI Application Blocks. These sessions were delivered by Cordell Lawrence, Irwin Williams and Sean Hinds, all of whom are Software Engineers with Teleios Systems.
Many of the attendees thought that their time was well spent and asked about the next MSDN Tour. The next tour will focus on the area of Code Completeness. During this tour discussions will include the art and science of software construction with a view to building the highest quality code. Are you sure you’re writing the best possible code?
