Burnt man cries over house fire
Kenny Ramnanan of Ibis Avenue, Perseverance remained warded yesterday at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) suffering from burns to his hands and legs.
Ramnanan said he had to jump through a window to escape the blaze. Ramnanan, 36, said he was cooking when the kitchen curtain caught fire.
“I was cooking chicken and rice on the stove. I just went to lie down for five minutes when next thing I know, I smell smoke.
“The whole house caught fire and I just broke a few louvres and jumped through the window,” Ramnanan said.
According to a police report, the blaze started when a curtain in the kitchen caught fire from the stove. Ramnanan said when he woke up, he could not do anything to douse the flames.
Ramnanan told Newsday he lived alone in the house.
“Only this month I buy some grasscutters to try my hand at landscaping.
“I now catching myself when this thing happened,” a tearful Ramnanan said.
