OWTU, oil firm sign wage deal

The Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) and the company signed the collective agreement at Soong’s Great Wall Restaurant, San Fernando, Wednesday, which guarantees a 15 percent wage increase over three years. An estimated 500 workers are covered by the agreement.

The workers, who are based on and off shore, are to benefit from bonuses, allowances and increased benefits.

“We have now incorporated a medical plan which covers all workers,” said Sie Rambhajan, director of finance and administration at Lennox Petroleum.

OWTU president general Errol Mc Leod said he was pleased to reach an agreement.

“Lennox Petroleum puts a lot of emphasis on developing human resources,” said Mc Leod.

Mc Leod commended Lennox Petroleum for holding the workers in high regard.
