Police, WASA, Crabs prevail

The lawmen edged cellar-placed Robby’s Engineering Couva Players United 1-0 at the Couva Junior Secondary School Ground, with Christopher Sam on target in the 47th minute.

WASA remained in fourth spot after blanking Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix 3-1 at the WASA Ground, St Joseph. Darin Lewis (17th), Alvin Beharry (30th) and Kirth Hutchings (82nd) were the goal-scorers for the hosts while Dominique Kerr (63rd) pulled one back for the Tobago-based outfit.

The “Crabs” got a 90th minute winner by midfielder Rennie Britto to earn a come-from-behind 2-1 triumph over PLIPDECO Caroni FC at Gilbert Park, Couva.

St Lucian striker Titus Elva gave Caroni a 27th minute lead before another veteran forward Warren Butler equalised for the Crabs in the 54th. Both teams fought tooth and nail for the winner, which was converted by Britto.

M&M Harvard strolled to a 3-0 victory over Defence Force FC at the St Anthony’s School Ground, Westmoorings, with second-half strikes from Christon Freitas (49th), Sayid Freitas (64th) and Saleem Rahman (88th).

But House of Dread secured their first win of the season after spanking Club TSTT 3-1 at the El Dorado Senior Comprehensive School Ground.

Kevin Baptiste netted a first-half double, in the 25th and 45th minutes, while Stevon Stoute’s 51st minute strike sealed full points for House of Dread. Fabian Garcia’s 81st minute item was scant consolation for TSTT.
