Fire destroys San Juan home
Police reports indicate that at about 9.45 am Jerry Charles and his family had just finished breakfast when they smelled smoke. Charles sent one of his daughters to investigate, but when she reached one of the bedrooms, it was engulfed in flames. The family estimates the damage at about $500,000, but said the house was not insured. They are appealing for assistance.
Residents of the area complained that Fire Service personnel took too long to respond and said if there was a water supply they could have assisted with a bucket brigade.
