NO MONIES FOR NCRHA WORKERS

In an interview first vice-president of the Public Services Association yesterday said the NCRHA would not meet the August deadline as promised and this was not surprising since the authority “always give promises they don’t keep. The organisation does not have structures and systems to deliver.” Thomas said based on information he received the NCRHA “is not on target at all.” He said a forward thinking organisation would take steps to minimise the discomfort of workers who would have legitimate expectations. He said if the NCRHA was having difficulties meeting the deadline then it should meet with the workers. (Last month the Chief Executive Officer of the NCRHA Charles Mitchell said arrears of increments is owed to approximately 500 workers in different departments.)

Thomas said he had no update on the letters of permanent appointment to be distributed to workers. The only information he had from the NCRHA was when 31 letters were issued to staff. Meanwhile, a shortage of staff in the payroll department may cause salaries to be delayed for August and September. Three senior payroll staff are on vacation and another is due to go on holidays. One of them cut short her vacation to assist the department in processing payroll for EWMSC (she deals with payroll for Chaguanas and Arima Health facilites). An accounting assistant who deals with the daily paid workers payroll is due to go on vacation. The rest of the staff comprises a supervisor, on the job trainee and contract worker. CEO of the NCRHA was unavailable for comment yesterday.
